Dr Emmanuel Amadi, PhD, MBA

Dr Emmanuel Amadi is the Founder, Programme Director and Lead Faculty of The Amadi Global Institute (TAGi).

His professional journey spans healthcare, entrepreneurship, business leadership, clinical practice, governance, scientific research and executive education.

Over more than two decades, he has worked as a pharmacist and healthcare professional, managed people and services, built and led regulated businesses, served in governance roles, undertaken doctoral research and continued to develop his clinical practice in Adult ADHD, mental health and prescribing.

Today, he brings these different strands of experience together through TAGi Executive Education.

His approach is grounded in a simple belief: professional knowledge may open the door to responsibility, but leadership, judgement and the ability to make good decisions determine what happens once you are there.

A CAREER ACROSS HEALTHCARE, BUSINESS & LEADERSHIP

Dr Amadi's career began in pharmacy, but it did not remain confined to traditional professional practice.

His work has taken him across community pharmacy, healthcare management, entrepreneurship, pharmaceutical wholesaling, organisational leadership, clinical practice, research and governance.

He has experienced professional life from several perspectives: as an employee, manager, business founder, Chief Executive, Superintendent Pharmacist Director, researcher, clinician and organisational leader.

Those transitions have shaped the way he approaches management and leadership education.

The challenges people encounter as their responsibilities grow are rarely contained within one discipline. A manager may need to understand people, finance, strategy and risk in the same afternoon. An entrepreneur may be simultaneously responsible for customers, employees, cash flow, regulation and growth.

TAGi programmes are designed with that reality in mind.

CLINICAL PRACTICE & PRESCRIBING

Adult ADHD | Mental Health | Common Clinical Conditions

Alongside his work in leadership and Executive Education, Dr Amadi maintains an active interest in contemporary clinical practice, with particular focus on Adult ADHD, mental health and prescribing.

His recent clinical development has included specialist professional training in Adult ADHD assessment, diagnosis and pharmacological treatment, including structured approaches to clinical assessment and the safe use and monitoring of medicines used in ADHD care.

This work has strengthened a growing area of clinical interest: improving understanding of Adult ADHD and supporting evidence-informed, person-centred approaches to assessment, treatment and ongoing care.

His wider mental-health experience includes involvement in medication review and monitoring, including work with patients receiving antipsychotic medicines.

Independent Prescribing Development

Dr Amadi undertook his Pharmacist Independent Prescribing training at the University of Strathclyde, with Common Clinical Conditions forming an important area of his prescribing development.

His supervised clinical practice has provided experience of applying clinical assessment, medicines optimisation, prescribing principles, clinical reasoning and patient-centred decision-making in real healthcare settings.

This complements his developing specialist work in Adult ADHD and mental health and broadens his clinical perspective beyond a single therapeutic area.

His Independent Prescribing qualification is currently awaiting completion of the relevant university and professional registration processes.

ADULT ADHD

A Developing Area of Specialist Clinical Practice

Adult ADHD has become an increasingly important focus within Dr Amadi's clinical work.

He has completed professional training in Adult ADHD assessment and diagnosis and pharmacological treatment, developing further capability in structured clinical assessment, treatment considerations, monitoring and the wider complexities surrounding ADHD care in adults.

His interest extends beyond medicines.

ADHD sits at the intersection of clinical care, mental health, education, employment, relationships and organisational life. Understanding the condition therefore requires both clinical competence and an appreciation of the person behind the diagnosis.

This developing area of practice also informs his wider interest in how healthcare professionals, employers and leaders can better understand neurodiversity within contemporary workplaces.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP & BUSINESS LEADERSHIP

From Pharmacist to Founder & Chief Executive

Dr Amadi's understanding of business was built not only in the classroom, but also through the experience of creating and leading an organisation.

In 2011, he established E E Amadi Ltd during the latter part of his Executive MBA studies.

He subsequently founded and led Drugs4U Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Wholesale, combining an NHS distance-selling pharmacy operation with regulated pharmaceutical wholesaling.

As Founder, Chief Executive and Superintendent Pharmacist Director, his responsibilities extended across strategy, regulatory governance, people, operations, finance, business development and organisational performance.

The business grew to more than £1.2 million in turnover within approximately 18 months and employed more than 50 people during its development.

He ultimately exited the business in August 2018.

The experience provided an education that cannot be replicated entirely through textbooks: making decisions when money, people, regulation and reputation are genuinely at stake.

It continues to inform his teaching in entrepreneurship, strategy, management and financial decision-making.

LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE

Dr Amadi's leadership experience extends beyond executive management into organisational governance.

He has served as a Non-Executive Director and Trustee within a multi-academy trust, contributing to oversight of organisational performance, safeguarding, financial sustainability and executive accountability.

He has also served as an elected Parent Governor within primary education.

These experiences reinforced an important distinction that runs through TAGi Executive Education:

management, leadership and governance are related—but they are not the same thing.

Managers must deliver. Leaders must create direction and bring people with them. Boards and governors must provide appropriate oversight, challenge and accountability.

Understanding those distinctions becomes increasingly important as professional responsibility grows.

ACADEMIC JOURNEY

Science. Healthcare. Business. Leadership.

Dr Amadi's academic development reflects the multidisciplinary nature of his career.

He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy, an MSc in Analytical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, an Executive MBA, and a PhD in Medical Sciences.

His Executive MBA studies included international business study at Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, Beijing, while his continuing executive development has included strategic leadership study through Harvard University Extension School and non-executive director development through Cass Business School, now Bayes Business School.

His professional pharmacy education and continuing clinical development have included study at UK universities including the University of Brighton and University of Strathclyde.

This combination of scientific, clinical and business education influences his approach to teaching: examine the evidence, understand the context, challenge assumptions and then decide what should be done.

RESEARCH & SCIENTIFIC WORK

Dr Amadi completed his PhD in Medical Sciences at the University of Bradford, with research focused on nanotoxicology and genetic toxicology.

His doctoral work investigated DNA damage associated with graphene oxide and involved laboratory research using advanced approaches to genotoxicity assessment.

His scientific work has contributed to peer-reviewed research and academic dissemination, including presentations and research engagement in the UK and internationally.

The discipline of research continues to influence his work beyond the laboratory.

Good researchers learn to ask better questions, examine evidence, challenge assumptions and distinguish what they know from what they merely believe.

Those are also valuable habits in leadership and strategic decision-making.

AUTHOR & EDUCATOR

Dr Amadi is an author whose writing explores leadership, entrepreneurship and personal and professional development.

He is also the creator and host of The Dr. Amadi Leadership Exchange, a platform examining leadership lessons, influential leaders and the decisions that shape organisations and society.

Through TAGi, those interests now come together in structured Executive Education.

WHY I TEACH

I have spent different periods of my working life as a pharmacist, manager, entrepreneur, Chief Executive, clinician, researcher and organisational leader.

Each transition taught me something important.

The knowledge that makes you successful in one role does not automatically prepare you for the next.

When I became responsible for people, I needed to understand people differently. When I became responsible for a business, the numbers mattered differently. When I entered governance, accountability looked different again.

That is one of the reasons I established The Amadi Global Institute.

I want participants to encounter important management and business ideas before—or while—they are facing the decisions that make those ideas real.

TAGi is therefore not about collecting information for its own sake.

It is about learning, applying, deciding and becoming more capable.
